AllDup is an application aimed at finding and deleting duplicate files. The main aspects of this program are, obviously, the search criteria and the selection of files to delete. Still, AllDup has lots of other options, like context menu entry in Windows Explorer, logging, and file previewing. You can choose to move your duplicates, instead of deleting them, too.
You can use several search criteria to find duplicates (file content, file name, file extension, file dates, file attributes), and the program utilizes a fast algorithm if you choose to do a byte-by-byte content analysis. All configuration options are saved for the next search, so you can fine-tune them to your liking.
The most valuable options of AllDup become evident after the duplicate files have been found. You have multiple options on how to visualize the results and select which files to delete. You can keep just a copy of each file, or delete every copy from a selected folder (if you were comparing folders for instance). You can also select the newest, oldest, first, or last file. There are options for exporting your duplicate files list as text (txt), comma separated values (csv), or simply print it. This is one of the most complete applications of this type in terms of selection criteria.
This application is available both in English and German. In its new version the help was improved, various bugs have been fixed and several parts of the application have been optimized. The option to select duplicate files from a specific folder has also been added.
It scans your hard disk or given folders to find duplicates and similar images.
